South Shore Beach - Don't Lock Us Out!

I completely agree with Si Campbell... My family has been going to South Shore for well over 30 years, and more recently have been enjoying it with my 5 grandchildren. Let's not forget that the beach is also a place to heal..the smell of the ocean breeze, the sound of the waves, and the feeling of sand on your feet...a wonderful place to gather your thoughts. The beach had a tremendous impact on my healing ability after being diagnosed with cancer last year. I cannot imagine if I was not able to go there to heal. The beach is a great part of many people....it should be enjoyed by all...as it always has been.

So many people enjoy that beach at all times, it is a place of peace and there is no reason to lock it up.

Not sure of the reasoning behind the permanent gate. But I do know that this a unique beach. Limiting access to all the beachgoers, fisherman, bird watchers and campers that have enjoyed the freedom of this beach for years is wrong. Hopefully a realistic plan can be put together soon to open the beach fully to the public as it once was. The beach commission needs to address this openly with the public asap.

We are not in favor of a permanent gate to limit our access - we are beach walkers in the early morning, in the evening, and all winter long. We see out of state and out of town cars cramming the beach lot every hot summer day - take that revenue for our town budget - but don't limit residents from enjoying the reason why they chose to live here!

I have worked in LC for 5 years and have had the privilege of taking breaks at South Shore and the Landing every day. As a hard working, law abiding and mask wearing employee, I can only hope that these places will stay open. There are no other places in town to take a break. Please do not close these beaches.

The earth is everyone’s land....the beach is sacred ground.... for those of us locals who work sunup to sundown...this is our solace. Especially in these times and the warmer months where work is never ending, we can soak our bones and recharge. We serve the community with fresh nourishing produce all weekend long, if we are lucky enough, we run down to jump in the ocean before the sun sets. Do not take this away from us, it’s our saving grace which we all deserve. Including Lloyd’s access. This should not be only accessible to those who spend weeks here while others live here year round supporting the community. Very heartbroken and saddened by this. Shameful. We shouldn’t have to have million dollar homes or private expensive memberships to access the ocean. It is our rights as humans. Change this.....

Little Compton residents should be able to access the beaches during these difficult times.

Please keep South Shore Beach open it’s a beautiful place for everyone!

Please don't deprive so many from one of the best parts of Little Compton.

Please don’t do this. It’s the only time of day we can enjoy the beach with our dog.

I work 9-5 Monday through Friday and when I get home, I enjoy taking my dinner to the beach to swim, surf, and watch the sunset after a long day. Now, the beach is closes at 6PM, which is about the time I get home from work.

This is my childhood beach, my favorite beach, my home. I cannot imagine not being able to come to South Shore this summer.
