We all understand that these past few moths have been unprecedented times, and appreciate all the hard work our council members have done to ensure the safety of our community. However, it is equally important during these unique times to carefully examine our actions to make sure we do not overreact, and overstep with our solutions. Many town citizens I have spoken with were alarmed at the permanent nature of the gate that has been installed. The parking cones it replaced had done their job perfectly, and there seemed to be no need for anything further, if in fact, the current restrictions were only temporary. I think that everyone would feel a great deal more at ease, if the council passed a motion definitively stating that ALL current action is a TEMPORARY response to the CoVid pandemic. Once this crisis has been deemed over by state and federal officials, we except a FULL return to previous rules. If would be a shame to see individuals leverage the fear of these times to push a selfish agenda aimed at restricting everyone’s unalienable right to the pursuit of happiness found in the beauty and awe of the natural landscape that is South Shore Beach.

We need to keep beautiful places available to ALL people without discrimination. This is not the time to do this type of action.

I have a town beach but forced to go to Horse Neck in Massachusetts! Please open the beach so I can talk a walk-it’s therapeutic.

Putting a gate that blocks access at any point turns the public beach to a private beach ..also if your handicapped how do you get access ..zone more thing people that live along south shore beach road aren’t going to be happy with people parking out in front of there houses

Maybe keep it to Little Compton residents only. Try to go there in middle of the summer, alot of out of town license plates. Way to crowded. By 11:00 its closed. The towns people should be able to enjoy open air comfort in these most difficult times.

I support social distancing and face masks, as Rhode Island moves forward little Compton must follow, take the gate down and let LC Police provide assistance as needed. Citizens will also call for assistance If guidelines aren’t followed

Please let my children have sandy toes and salty hair from special evenings at the beach. This is the good stuff, the lifelong memory stuff, the being with people who matter most in the town we love stuff.
