Being a single woman with a dog would make my life much easier to be able to walk around with proper street lights.

As a former Brookes student, I too remember being on my own and walking to and from campus at night.

The Council's response of an alternative route isn't realistic. The alternative route takes students living at Oxford Brookes in the opposite direction of their accommodation. And nobody who has been out dancing in heels is going to take a longer route. Spend some money on students for once!

Please have lights in South Park! It is next to uni and a common passageway for students to go through when leaving uni

Oxford Brookes alumini There are little to no safe areas to walk though at night from Brookes main campus to main student accommodation in Cowley. Lighting is something we’ve all be asking for for year. Hopefully there’s lights in the park sooner rather than later.

I have a company working on using sustainable lighting to light the paths in dark areas of Oxford, please reach out to me via my email [email protected]

I lived in Cowley Road, Oxford as an undergraduate student a few years back and I frequently walked through South Park to get to and back from uni. I was studying Architecture at the time and would regularly work late most days which made it difficult and slightly nerve-racking walking through the park as a young woman late at night. I totally agree with the implementation of lights along key routes that uni students and the public use regularly in South Park.

This is long overdue, my own daughter suffered an assault on this path many years ago. Once it gets dark that park can be pitch black.

I feel very strongly about the instalment of lighting in South Park. It is commonly known route for students, both Brookes abs Cheney school. It is imperative for the safety of people living in this area of Oxford that lighting is installed as a matter of urgency. There have been many times where friends of mine have been chased or shouted at in the park, and made to feel extremely unsafe as there is no way of telling where sound is coming from without any lights. This is not a matter up for debate. I can’t believe it has taken this long to even be taken as a serious matter. Thank you to Hugh for stranding this petition.
