Hello fellow Berkeley students,

As the vice president of UC Berkeley's Hindu Students Council and having independently given various presentations on South Asian culture on campus, I believe it is integral to spread awareness. There is a great lack of representation of South Asian history in our textbooks, and a general lack of social and geographical awareness as well. Thus, I request the Daily Cal to introduce a South Asian affairs column that would provide writers the opportunity to speak about social issues and celebrate the cultural diversity that the South Asian community has to offer. Topics that could be covered in this column include art, film, science, literature, politics, and social issues. Please sign the petition below if you would like to see something like this implemented.
