These safety devices should never have been prohibited in the first place. It disgusts me that a device designed to protect and save your hearing could ever be classifed as a prohibited and punishable by up to 10 years in prison. These devices should be legalized ASAP.

The current prohibition on these devices is absurd. They are used commonly in many European nations with far more restrictive gun laws. Again, the prohibition is geared towards law abiding citizens and does little to affect crime rates.

There is Nothing on Earth that is made by man that isn't abused some how by someone at sometime. but why does 99.9% of the interested/responsible population have to suffer for the actions of the 0.1%

Sound moderators were prohibited because there was a perception that poachers would use them. They don't eliminate the sound but they do reduce it. Many countries allow them.

I believe all Canadians have some concerns about protecting their Hearing. We Canadians have Hearing Test performed on our Job Sites on a regular basis to ensure our hearing is protected from the noises of our tools, Sometimes Ear Plugs or Ear Muffs just are not enough to block out the sound decibels.. Firearms are fairly loud normally, Having sound moderators available for Firearms would be beneficial to Everyone's comfort of hearing.

Sound modifiers are just that, the suppress the sound and noise pollution that comes from a range or during hunting season. Neighbour's number one complaint is about the noise. They as well as recreational shooters want sound moderators. The hunter suffers from significant hearing damage every time they take a shot and countries such as New Zealand require recreational shooters to use sound modifiers.

I do not see any reason to prohibit these devices. I've never heard of any crimes committed involving moderators . I believe prohibition is based on a fear perpetrated by movies and fiction.

Use of sound moderators will certainly reduce the risk of hearing damage for the shoot and the noise level in the range . win win situation. even the oppressive UK allows sound moderators .

Reality vs. movies, moderators don't 'silence' firearm reports, They do reduce it to a safer, non-invasive level. It's a win-win situation for gun clubs facing increasing complaints of noise, witness what occurred in Sasketchewan for police training! Even countries with severe firearm restrictions permit and encourage the use of moderators on firearms. Time to get with the program Canada, this is 2016!

The prohibition of suppressors, like the limits on magazine capacity, only has the effective reach of legal, licensed gun owners. There are many benefits to allowing suppressors for all legal shooting purposes.
