As someone who was a volunteer firefighter and first responder for 18 years I know the importance of maintaining staffing levels. A chief with any sense in his head at all would be fighting to maintain and increase the numbers of firefighters protecting this city. Shameful.

This is a reckless and irresponsible cut to public and fire fighter safety.

This is absurd, we've ruined our health care by doing this now we'll lose our security and fire protection as well as emergency services also. When will this all stop, it's out of control. There is nothing more important the lives of the people of our community and the heroes that dedicate their lives to protecting us from these dangers. It looks like we need protection from politicians as well.

When we need these fire fighters they should be there for us. We don't need them everyday, but we do not need the police, paramedics city works either everyday.

I can't believe that cutting emergency services by any amount is acceptable option for the city. Although an unpopular option, I would rather my taxes rise a little then to have cuts in services I hope I will never need, but hope will be there if I do. Shame on you city of Sault Ste Marie.
