Hard to believe we hired a NEW fire chief that deliberately jeopardizes the safety of our citizens. The 1st time a child looses their life in a fire, then, he'll realize he's made a HUGE mistake..... CUTBACKS ARE LUDICROUS !!!!!!!!

Unbelievable especially without an in depth study. Similar to pilots........hours and hours of boredom interspaced with moments of stark terror. I want a full firefighting compliment here for those scary times.

When you need more nurses, you don't cut doctors. When you need more plumbers you don't cut electricians. When you need more paramedics you don't cut firefighters. Keep the Sault a safe place to live... just hire more paramedics. If cuts are required, why such a dramatic cut proposal? This is insane. Cut non-essential services... how about one less economic development study?

Even thinking of cutting back on this service is stupid

Reducing the number of firefighters to increase EMS staff is ridiculous. Clearly EMS calls have risen, but taking staffing numbers from firefighting to send them EMS way is not the right answer. Leave the firefighters alone and hire some EMS people, find the money somewhere else!!!!

Reducing the number of fire fighters is unthinkable! Indeed, I agree that the ambulatory needs more people, but by cutting fire fighting jobs! That is the most ridiculous and dangerous proposal I have ever heard of. These front line guys not only fight fires, but are the first on the scene at MOST other calls; car accidents, drownings, suicides, heart attacks etc. etc. etc. Support them, they really need it!

The City needs to find better alternatives for saving money than cutting front-line firefighters.

Does a 5 page report provide all answers on the loss of 20 + jobs and new fire protection procedures for Sault Ste. Marie. Saultites deserve better.
