such an essential service! They do so much more than fight fires.

Fires in 2015 are bigger, more toxic and far more volatile thanks to all the hydrocarbon based products we fill our homes with. Cutting fire services is a big mistake. Council needs to remember that they are assuming full responsibility when they make these decisions. Sometimes it's about more than money alone. It's about the safety of the community and the fire fighters that protect it.

As a resident of Sault ste marie, I am very concerned not only for my protection but for the safety of the front line workers.

With the Soo becoming an older community, it cannot afford to put lives at risk by reducing essential services that keep people safe!

Our city can not afford to lose any fire fighters. We do not need families to be at risk! When fire fighters are at one fire and another large one breaks out the community will suffer and lives will be risked and/or lost. I for one would not want that on my shoulders for the rest of my life. What about that fire fighter whonis a burning building and falls through the floor will there be enough men outside the fire able to save his life so he can return to his family safely. I have watched the endless work of fire fighters putting out an all nighter and I am truly grateful for them all. I have friends who are fire fighter and famliy who were this job is not one to take for granted. We can not afford to lose any...if anything we need more

I agree that cuts to the force will put the city, residents, and firefighters in increased danger while trying to do their job.

There is NO price on our safety! These firefighters put their lives on the line with every call they receive with no hesitation. ..so let's not hesitate to support them, show them that we have their backs this time!

We ALL PAY for these services and it comes out of our tax dollars... You cant go and hire a hired gun to come in to cut cut cut services.what happens if the service can't get to you or your family in time. Who will explain the cost cutting then ..I understand cuts need to be made but why not start at the top of the pile I'm sure you can stand to trim the fat somewhat..

I am one of the 7 remaining on the recruitment list. I was looking forward to working/living in the Sault. Hope all the good people of the city do not suffer from these cuts.

Lets hope we don't end up like North Bay - they closed one of the fire halls there with the cuts under Figliola.

Staffing could change to 13 man shift on a 24 hour coverage. Presently it is 17-18, for manpower. (It is the same as closing a Fire Station). Fire Service is an essential service dedicated to serve public, or our customers. Fire works on a back up system. Always have a plan and always have a back up. Who do you want to back you up? When you cut nursing, patients suffer, likewise here, with proposed cuts. I Support Police, Fire and EMS. Dedicated Public Servants for emergency service.

Not sure what the new Chief is trying to achieve... But the safety of the citizens in this city and the safety of the firefighters is in major jeopardy...
