Why the rush to push these cuts though, City Council? Very suspicious when every other topic is "studied" to death..eg. Boxing Day shopping and other recurring topics that do not have such an effect on public safety!

These cuts are totally irresponsible. City council needs to rescind this decision.. Now!

Fire Ops 101 should be mandatory for all council and mayor! Pennywise and pound foolish. Unfortunately someone has to die or be seriously injured before they figure it out.

This is one area that should not have cutbacks. We are talking emergency services It is crucial that we have first responders.

I am appalled that our city thinks this is a solution to safe money. Peoples lives are at stake.

Firefighters provide a cost effective service to their communities-less than a dollar a day for 24hr, 7 days a week, 365 days a year emergency service. In your time of need, firefighters are your best insurance, don't limit their response by limiting there numbers. Speak to your council, they should run the city to meet your expectations.

This is ridiculous, if there is a fire and a major accident at the same time, what's the plan of action?? Someone is going to get hurt!!

Three most important groups we need in the Sault and surrounding areas for all our safety needs are the Police, Firefighters and E.M.S. workers..Take the cuts from somewhere else. Cutting back on Firefighters is just ludicrous!!!

Why not do an assessment before you begin staff reductions? The Fire Fighters do more than just firght fires, eg natural gas leaks, car accidents, train derailments. Just as people say that crime is down, why not cut police officers. Police Offiers are doing crime prevention programs. Fires are down, why not cut Fire Fighters, Fire Fighters are doing fire prevention programs, informing the public about smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, speaking to kids about fire safety, eg stop, drop and roll.

This issue needs to be revisited. Have a third party assessment done and lets start talking about how we can fund both; not cut one for another!

We need these firefighters . I will go back two years ago when we had the floods. The street was covered in firemen.. We need the EMS but we still need our firemen. I know myself I am willing to pay to keep them around

If you want to cut jobs start in city hall.
