Sony knew about this and they thought they could get away with it. We can't let them sweep this under the rug. People need to unite to preserve video game history. People deserve to play their purchased physical and even digital copies of games. It's not right of Sony to do this.

I put a lot of money into psn digital content this past decade. Would be crappy to lose it all. Especially all the ps1 games.

This is very disheartening!!! I've been a PlayStation supporter since the first PlayStation and have owned every console from every generation since they started. It makes me not even want to be a modern gamer knowing that one day my console is designed to not work anymore. What is the point of being a gamer from ps4 gen and on, because the next gen seems to have same design flaw and it's likely to continue. I like to come back to games through out the years and re experience them, not just to digest it and on to the next experience. What's the point of building up a video game library if it's just going to be worthless one day, which is how I feel. This makes me not even want to continue investing time or money in games anymore. I'm in it for the long run, not the now. This also makes me not want to buy anything from PlayStation anymore knowing one day they take back possession, I bought the hardware and yes we signed the Toa but it's an Achilles hill knowing we want to play the games but Sony has us in a stranglehold. Please issue a patch before you pull the servers and let this problem ride into the sunset, or at least respond to the public because we deserve to know your exact stance one this. I think we are going to start seeing the new era in gaming even more so than ever before coming to fruition going forward and alot of gamers are going to be lost and that's lost revenue. Sad day to be a gamer. So sad.

This kind of DRM restriction is controversial and inexcusable for wanting to play PS3, PS4 and PS5 games digitally and physically in the foreseeable future. Game preservation is very important and without fans they’d be no company.

I don't even own a playstation I'm nintendo all the way but this is huge problem for preservation esxapecialy when you have that much money into a collection I'd be livid and I won't buy future sony products unless this changes

And on top of that, physical games won't work on the PS4. PS3 is less affected, and PS5 is mixed, some games are spared.

One more thing: While it may be possible that Sony may say that even a firmware update won't fix it, if so, disable the DRM.
I understand that graphics back then were horrible, but there's a reason we play these games. We play it for nostalgia, for fun. But most of all, we play it for preservation. You want to be green, but this isn't it. You'll cause e-waste to rise up.
Sony, you should realize that people want you to fix this problem, whether it's disabling the DRM or a firmware update on PS3, PS4 and PS5.
Please fix this problem.
