Fired up my PS3 for the first time in at least a few years tonight to realize my CMOS battery had died. Hopefully they fix it.

I will not buy the ps5 or another Sony product if Sony doesn't fix the cmos battery issue for ps3 ,ps4 and ps5. I own a ps3 and ps4 and the thought of losing all my digital games and physical really pisses me off. When I know i could get another 10 years or more out of these 2 consoles.

Having over 200 games on my PS3 alone, having my system stop working would be devastating. I always believed in buying what I want instead of using piracy, but if I have to jailbreak my system to keep playing, I’ll do so in a heartbeat.

As someone with over 120+ PS4 physical discs and two PS4 original consoles I would like to have this issue patched out as if the battery fails and PS4 is no longer supported by psn then all my paid for discs will be useless I have been collecting and playing since PS1 and am holding off on ps5 until I can be sure that PS4+5 discs will play past the CMOS battery death as I am a retro player and collector

I miss shopping on the PSN store, but have refrained from making purchases since this issue came to light. Sony's silence on the matter does not encourage consumer confidence, and frankly, has kinda killed my desire to collect games, even physical, from the online era due to future DRM issues potentially locking me out of current day purchases. Sony, please announce a response to this concern soon, or expect a decline in future sales, at least for my part, in gaming tied to your brand.

I've gamed on every model of PlayStation from the PS1 and PSP to the PS4 and have gathered a substantially decent library of physical and digital titles on each and now it's like "so you're going to take away my access to over half of everything I trustingly paid for and think I'm going to keep on giving you my money for future generations of console? Nope!" Please, fix this and then, maybe, I might consider getting a PS5
