Why have you sentenced a man to 6 years for a €1.6 mil fraud when you haven't tried 1 banker for Ireland's €150 billion fraud?

*Please get this on your facebook, twitter etc. and let everyone you can know about this. We will get the bankers arrested, with or without the governments help! Spread the word.*On the 9th March 2012, Paul Begley was sentenced to jail for 6 years for defrauding the Irish State of €1.6 million. These monies were related to consignments of garlic, currently taxed on import at the rate of 232%!! This is an absolute disgrace as not 1 banker has been tried in relation to Ireland's banking & debt problems which totals in excess of €150 billion. People who sign this petition: a) Want Paul Begley to be given a fair sentence, not an inconsistent, disproportionate one! b) Want to know why no bankers or investors have been arrested for causing the Irish Financial Crisis for which the tax payer of Ireland has carried all the burden. c) Are refusing to tolerate this unfair justice system which is crippling every person in Ireland except the real culprits. This case has highlighted exactly how it is one rule for the elite and 1 rule for every other man, woman and child. I will personally hand this petition to Enda Kenny on behalf of every individual who wants their voice to be heard. Please sign this petition and stand up for real, fair and transparent justice.

Watching the gap between Paul Begley's sentence and the total immunity of our banking elites feels like watching the bedrock of our country crumble. I have spent the last few nights reading through your stories and it is clear that I am far from the only person who feels this level of deep betrayal by our courts. I am finalizing the paperwork to bring these names directly to the Taoiseach because this selective justice has to end.

The momentum behind this plea for fairness proves that people across the country see exactly what I see when I look at the legal system. Seeing this support grow confirms that I am not alone in my anger at the double standard that lets powerful figures walk free while others are crushed.

Where is the justice?? 6 years for garlic while the ones who actually wrecked the whole country walk free. Makes me sick.

This makes my blood boil. Everyone knows who caused the crash but they never face a day in court. KEEP THE PRESSURE ON ENDA!

The system is rigged. Plain and simple.

Absolute joke. The bankers are sitting in penthouses while regular people get hammered for petty stuff. Disgraceful treatment.

Garlic tax is robbery anyway but comparing it to the billions lost in the crash is just sad. We need real accountability for once.

Total double standard. Everyone sees it.
