There is no denying that Peter's contributions to academia have been invaluable. His expertise, dedication, tenacity and commitment to excellence have significantly enriched the academic community locally AND abroad. Allowing him to continue at the UM is an investment in academic excellence and community empowerment. UM should be more careful how to manage its academic assets.

It is a disgrace that a prestigious and deserving teacher like Peter Mayo has been deprived of the opportunity to continue teaching. This choice by the University of Malta is dastardly and meaningless. I hope a way will be found to return to Prof. Mayo what the community actually owes him

Peter Mayo is a world class academic and at the age of 68 he should be kept on for at least a few more years. He is still very active.

The University is Peter’s whole life and I think he does a pretty good job of it. He has already prepared a lot of material for next year and it’s a pity if it goes to waste!

The University of Malta cannot brag about its improvements in international rankings only to then ignore those very same academics whose impressive achievements made such global visibility possible. Peter is, without any doubt, one such academic and deserves much better treatment at the hands of his Alma Mater.

I have known Peter Mayo since we undertook our PhD studies together at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. He was then and has continued to be a highly productive scholar and intellectually inclusive scholar. Beyond his own individual work his intellectual curiosity and collaborative inclinations have led him to establish a well regarded academic journal, secure a UN backed chair position. He is well known and in considerable demand internationally. He is clearly the sort of academic the University of Malta should encourage to continue his high profile and impactful work.
