This recent behaviour and treatment of a scholar the likes of Professor Peter Mayo, is crass, lacking any foresight into the wealth and breadth of his knowledge and wisdom…a person only needs to look at his work and publishing record. I think this is a short-sighted and ageist agenda. Shame on you L-Universita Ta Malta! Shame on you!

This is a very sad decision. Prof Mayo is one of those learned persons who has continued to broaden his knowledge through direct contact with the general public. I for one, feel honoured to have contributed to his projects. I will cherish this experience for the rest of my life.

Professor Mayo has played an influence in my academic and critical inquiry. His expositions and invitations to understand social difference and inequalities have immensely played an important theoretical contribution to the discourse of adult education. It is a pity that his academic stature had been diminished. Academia seems to continue becoming a silencing force which needs to be challenged. He needs to be reinstated....right now. In solidarity for Professor Mayo - a dear professor and friend.

Full solidarity with Peter. He should be reappointed to full time professorial status without delay.

Peter Mayo is a distinguished and highly respected scholar second to none. The ripples of his enthusiasm for his field of expertise extend beyond his lecture hall. The University of Malta would be all the poorer were he not to be part of the faculty. It would certainly be a shame!
