Willow Lakes should update it's HOA regulations to allow for solar access to all residents within SCE&G guidelines. In short, anyone should be allowed to generate up to as much solar power as they use on a daily basis. South Carolina recently passed "net metering" which allows us to buy back electricity for free that we contribute to the grid, which means even electricity we use at night can be generated by our solar systems for free.
This would help bring the neighborhood up to date and significantly increase our property values if we can get residents on board.
Unfortunately the current HOA laws prevent modifying the roof to add solar panels. Please sign to show your support for changing this archaic regulation!

I have spent the week reviewing the current HOA bylaws to identify the specific language that prohibits solar installation. I am drafting a formal proposal for the board to update these rules in accordance with state net metering standards. Expect a copy of this draft to be posted here once the legal language is finalized for review.

I am asking Vivint Solar for more information not only for me but for the HOA. I want to make an informed decision and that is all I am going to ask the HOA to do. If this is the right thing for the homeowners then the HOA should not block it. Let's be well informed before decisions are made.

I think this is a energy savings that everyone should be aloud to have. Its like a Dish on your TV on your roof.
