I'm not part of the geder community, nor live in Israel, and accidently came upon this petition and now learned somewhat of what transpired. Reminds me of what I was told happened with Rabbi Akiva's talmidim. Rabbi Akiva was the source of high importance ("klal gadol")of Ahavas Yisroel. His students, in their way of standing up for their Rebbe's honor and teaching as they understood it, physically hurt their fellow chassidim (other students of Rabbi Akiva who understood things differently than them) convincing themselves they were doing so for their good, for the other student's good and for their Rebbe's good. And as the story goes, 24,000 of them died. And this is commemorated by most orthodox Jews, including gerer chassidim, by mourning somewhat during... uhm, these exact jewish calendar dates (sefira). Apparently some of us have not evolved or collectively learned to grow as people, and we remain animals, slaves to our programming, unwilling to work and grow better, and no nusach or limud or l'vush or minhag will hide that reality. Personal work. Do it, or continue the old cycle of ugliness in a silk coat.

As a child who grew up hearing horror stories that our grandparents tragically experienced in the Holocaust, I had a flashback on Sunday afternoon during a phone call to my sister. For a few minutes I felt like my grandparents were alive again. With horror I listened to my sister describe the trauma that they had experienced in Yerushalayim this past Shabbos.
The way they waited for their husbands to come home to eat the Friday night seuda… how they were at first a half hour late ….another half hour… hearing screams that sounded like a pack of screaming hyenas fill the streets of Yerushalayim... waiting in vain for men and children that were so so late in coming home… the sinking horrific realization that their husbands were in danger…. Davening that they should still have husbands by the time the night was over… Hearing snatches of news here and there… The men can’t leave the beis medrash…. There is a MOB of lunatics/ Gerrer chassidim outside beating anyone that leaves. They broke open the doors… They are tearing sefarim…. On Shabbos! Yidden mechalelei Shabbos thirsting for BLOOD…Searching for OUR BLOOD! They are like a pack of wild animals ready to rip us apart limb by limb… The hatred is bursting out of their eyes… consuming their entire being… another half hour and my husband runs in, red in the face, gasping for breath.
