Soda and Calypso are deeply rooted into Trinidad and Tobago's cultural history. Not only has it been used as a highly recognised form of entertaining music but it has been utilized as a form of change, evolution and a medium of bringing awareness to political, social and spiritual structures within society. Calypso itself has become an activist.

Thank You to whoever has begun this Petition. I think this move is long over due and is a most important one. Our artist have strived for many years to make our Genre something that we can all be proud of and it is beyond a doubt time for us to be properly recognized and classed as our own so I will fully support this venture as well as ensure to encourage others to do the same.
