Our music matters just as all other genres, the Caribbean deserves to be recognised. We have great artists such as Machel Montano, Spice and Destra that belong in their own sector and not just classified as overall “reggae”, it’s not the same thing and we want justice for our small collection of islands with great music production.

Soca music has influenced plethora of genres, more specifically, pop music (e.g. Chris Brown - Questions). Soca music has also made it to the Billboard Charts (e.g. Kevin Lyttle - Turn Me On, Rupee - Tempted to Touch) and has made its mark in countries like the USA where the music fuels the hype of Miami carnival. Even artistes like Machel Montano, who is a Soca artiste, has collaborated with huge industry names like Major Lazer to add the soca culture to their productions and has made success on the word charts. I believe that it is well deserving that there is consideration for the addition of Soca into iTunes to allow ease and convenience to the clients, particularly from the Caribbean, who are contributing their success of the iTunes platform by adding their music for increase revenue. In summary.. IT IS LONG OVERDUE!!
