This is a petition for parents to fight the “NO SNACK” policy at Kent Primary School. Our children need snack!  Why is it important for children to have a nutritious snack before lunch?  Because, if given the right snack, it can provide essential vitamins and minerals they need for energy; energy they need to learn and play at school.  Without energy from food, the student will be tired and have difficulty concentrating.  Here are some other reasons:

1.      Smaller meals help maintain the proper blood sugar
2.      Prevent overeating at larger meals
3.      Maintain proper weight
4.      Increasing metabolism

This was based on internet research, discussions with a nutritionist, gastroenterologist and pediatrician.
It is important that children are able to have a NUTRITIOUS snack, i.e.: grapes, apple slices, yogurt tube, whole grain crackers, cheese slices, nut-free trail mix, cranberries, raisins, etc. Why should our children be grumpy and hungry? It’s not fair to them and it’s not fair to the teacher to have to educate hungry kids.  Please join me and sign the petition below to present this to the principal and the Wellness Committee.
