The SMU Feral Cat Group has done an excellent job of keeping the campus cat population under control through humane means. To ignore the group's hard work and act without any kind of discussion shows a complete disregard for the opinion of the SMU community. The cats are a campus staple and any change in how they are treated should be subject to public discussion.

Fleas are horrible this season and it's not the cats fault it's the huge amount of rain we got. Cats are a great way to keep rodents population down. Don't remove them when there's a great program involved with them.

SMU should consider that these cats are neutered and they control the rodent population on campus. There are countless squirrels on campus carrying fleas and only 45 feral cats (not the 100 reported).

SMU should be so ashamed of this action. Inhumane & cruel treatment of these cats is totally unacceptable. The volunteers should be a part of the discussion.

These cats have been trapped, neutered and released to the only homes they know. Leave them alone.

It is well documented that squirrels and other rodents are the predominant hosts for fleas in urban areas. Trapping the feral cats will not significantly reduce the flea infestation. It is better to use nematodes to control the problem. More cats will appear as students graduate, leave campus. and leave their pets behind. The SMU Feral Cat Group keeps the feral population under control. It is unconscionable to take such a drastic action without any communication with this group.

Save the program. Local shelters are overflowing. Eliminating this program will result in the killing of more innocent animals for no reason.

My heart breaks for these cats.
