Keep the Cats at SMU - Save the Feral Cat Program at Southern Methodist University

Please stop the evacuation of the SMU feral cat population.

I am a retired veterinary technician. If these animals are being well controlled and taken care of already then leave them alone.

SAVE THE CATS. CATS ARE PEOPLE TOO.

As a former student, those cats are part of the SMU experience and they're wonderful animals- save them!

Please leave these cats alone. This is the only life they know. They aren't hurting anyone.

What is wrong with these people? These cats are hurting no one. This committee should be disbanded immediately and the members should be charged with animal cruelty.

Shameful

Students love the cats! They're a part of our campus, and we have a program to take care of them for a reason! Leave them alone!

As an SMU Alum, this news is extremely embarrassing & disappointing. My education there encouraged me to make a difference in this world and it has a lot to do with who I am today. Shame on SMU for making this inhumane decision and not trying to find a real solution to the problem.

I'm not a cat lover by any means. But I do know this treatment of living creatures is Inhumane and should not be acceptable.

I am currently on sabbatical at SMU and was planning to come back. If this isn't handled properly and if the cats get hurt or are treated inhumanely I will have to rethink my college plans. There are great things about SMU but this is so grievous and I can't go to a school that would harm these cats many of which I have met myself while taking classes at SMU. I have many friends going to SMU and a lot who have graduated as well and the consensus is that this will bring negative PR to SMU. So SMU, it your move? There are many wonderful things about this institution please don't let this be a dark cloud over all the positive things SMU has worked for.

I think it's truly awful that they would abandon a program as beneficial to the campus as the Feral Cat Group! There is no method of removing the cats that will prevent more from coming in, and it should be common sense that it is better to keep, maintain, and care for a known group of animals than to allow unaltered ferals to roam campus. The Feral Cat Group keeps track of the cats on campus, and seeks proper care and treatment for those sick or injured. SMU needs to consider not only the health of the animals, but also its own image in allowing a pest control service to dispose of entire colonies of peaceful cats!
