Outdoor cats are not the problem with fleas in buildings. Feral cat populations keep down rodent outbreaks and keep out other cats who might not have shots or be fixed. SMU campus is huge and the cats are rarely even seen. But the little feeding stations around campus are great little reminders of being responsible stewards. For SMU to suddenly decide to kill the cats is crazy. I think terminex is selling them a bill of good. As I recall the plague broken out when people decided to kill all the cats and the rodent population blossomed. In the year 2015, I would hope that college campuses would set the example of how to live in harmony with nature...not to trap and destroy.

Cats do not cause fleas. The heavy rains did that. There must be another solution rather than removing them and killing them. Why is killing always the answer humans come up with when animals are involved? Work on a different solution and let these cats live.

Keep the program Don't blame the cats for the fleas. You have caretakers who would be more than willing to treat them for the fleas. Don't be hypocrites, saying that you have a great program when you do what everyone else does and shut down what works.

I support the Feral Cat Program at SMU. Release the trapped cats and continue the program.

What are they doing with these cats? It worry me because using Terminix, a pest management? Not a good sign! What I have read these cats can be use for medical use etc. Cats are $$$$$$$$ for the SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY...extra income. I hope you guys can help. It's their lives you're trying to save. I have rescue cats for over 20+ years, retired, now. GOOD LUCK! God bless these cute cats. :)

This does not sound like a well thought out plan on the part of the University,who have apparently done little to no research on this subject.
