Keep the Cats at SMU - Save the Feral Cat Program at Southern Methodist University

managing the colony is the best, and I my opinion, only option. I'm a University Park resident, and your neighbor. TNR is the answer, the population will stop growing and not cause problems.

shame on them fleas are bad everywhere they are at my house but noe shipping of the strays i look after just finding a solution to rid thefleas which is what they need to be doing instead of mass murder hateful people

Using Terminex to remove feral cats is not the answer, nor is deliberately locking out campus groups to their supplies without any form of communication in advance. Where is this coming from? Have students and parents been complaining about fleas? This is a very short-sighted 'solution.' Remove the cats, and soon you'll have rats running around campus. What would students prefer - a shy cat hanging out in the bushes, or a passel of rats crawling around? By the way, rats also carry fleas. One day while I was walking outside, a squirrel fell from high up in a tree and landed inches away from my feet. Had it fallen a nanosecond later, it would have beaned me on the head. Yes! I could have had a concussion, or worse, serious brain damage - while also being a laughing stock. Will you remove the squirrels next? A colleague of mine really was hit, not by a squirrel but by a vehicle whose driver did not observe a crosswalk. Another colleague witnessed a different driver striking a pedestrian, a young female, in the exact same spot a few years later. Will you ban vehicles on campus? Hundreds of campuses around the United States have successful feral cat programs. So does SMU. Please put your energy and time into something that is truly a threat to campus.

Please continue the SMU Feral Cat Program! There are a number of animals on campus that carry cat fleas, including dogs, opposums (like the one living under Carr Collins Hall), squirrels, and birds. Why single out just the cats as the carry of fleas?

PLEASE get RID of TERMINEX!.. Let these cats have a chance to live a happy and well-cared for life!... The cats can't help that they are homeless! Would you shoot a homeless PERSON!... I think NOT!

this program was so dear to my sister during her time at SMU. Our family would be so upset if the program did not continue

It is barbaric and ignorant not to utilize proven and effective systems for maintaining feral cat populations as has been established in the past on the SMU campus. Disney is a another great example of how to incorporate feral colonies on site to control rodents with feral cats that are fed and well cared for. If changes are proposed to the existing situation, a meeting of all involved should be held and a strategic plan implemented that is humane and well thought out.

I WAS A VOLUNTEER FOR THIS PROGRAM AND IT WAS VERY NEAR AND DEAR TO MY HEART! These cats were very well cared for and it was a charming tradition on the SMU campus. I would be devastated to see it go away.

Sending exterminators to remove feral cats is disgusting! Who the hell are you trying to fool SMU!?!?As if Terminex gives a shit what happens to them? They will cage them, take them to another location and then kill them! That's what e terminators do! They are hired to kill. BMU administration is wrong and must be stopped!

Spotting the cats on campus is always the best part of my day. I grew up always having cats, so having cats on campus makes it feel homey. Couldn't stand the thought of having them forcibly removed especially in such a barbaric way!

Please don't kill the cats, If you take them away you will have rats and not friendly cats
