This has to happen. Many long islanders can not afford family vacations but spend $100 on a beach pass with the hope to make some family memories. Please open the beach!
Please give access to the families that enjoy the beach. Keep in mind everyone suffers when the beach is closed. Small business owners, especially, Smith Point Bait And Tackle steer, as they are a seasonal business . They close the store December and do not open again until April. They depend on being able to survive the winter on their profits , at least a portion of the time they are closed.
I demand my beach back!!!

Open the outer beach!! The birds are smart enough to make nest inland
Open smithpoint outer beach immediately. The act of collecting money for permits without access to the beach is criminal.
The beaches need to be reopened. The people that live here don't want to drive to another beach. They want to stay local. I my self had stopped buying a beach pass since 2012. Because of the plovers. It happens every year with this beach. Very unfair.

Born an raised here since 1966. These last few years have been ridiculous with Smith point beach being closed all summer long. All those other country park didn't completely shut down due to the piping plovers.We the tax payers who pay for our beach can't even us the beach.
