Earlier this season, the Stittsville Minor Hockey Association (SMHA) submitted 5 house league midget team rosters with more than the allowable number of players and was sanctioned for doing this. District 4 (SMHA’s boss) tells us that the SMHA should have known about the maximum roster size rule and should not have asked for special permission for these 4 teams to be approved to play, even though permissions had been granted on a one-off basis in the past for other teams in other associations.

As a result, our Association President (Craig Goodwin) received this sanction; 

"This note is further to our recent communication to you regarding your suspension. On January 11th, 2011, the District 4 council reviewed your recent actions as a District 4 Association President in regards to team placement for the current hockey season. It was determined that your actions contravened Hockey Canada Regulations. The Council further concluded that these actions are detrimental to your Association, it's members, the members of District 4 and the overall functioning of the ODMHA.. The overwhelming decision of the Council is to remove you from all contact with organized hockey activities effectively immediately until the end of the 2012 hockey season. This time suspension excludes being a spectator at your children's hockey activities."

Let’s get Craig Goodwin back as our President where he belongs. I encourage all SMHA members to sign and support this petition.
