There should have been a lower speed limit years ago

It was our son who had the accident on Childs Lane . I think it is appalling that nothing has been done about the way cars speed along that road. It was estimated that the car that hit our son was travelling at at least 60mph. Please lets not have another accident like that.

I appreciate that many country lanes default to the national speed limit of 60 mph and that this is considered acceptable in areas of little inhabitancy but when noting the population of Smallwood and the surrounding villages compared to the size of the lanes, and when taking into account the current property developments and the traffic flow which we all know are all only going to increase, it is worrying that these roads have not had their speed limit addressed and reduced to a sensible level years ago. Having been a resident in Smallwood for over 25 years I have personally witnessed 3 near fatalities on the roads all of which could have been avoided if stricter speed limits were in place, I would urge the authorities to consider this and would ask for a comprehensive report to be produced on whatever the outcome so it can clearly be understood who makes a final decision and their rationale behind it so residents can be comforted that there has been consultation and responsibility taken for any outcome.

The speed that drivers travel down these narrow lanes with numerous blind corners and property entrances is extremely dangerous. This area should of been made a 30mph zone years ago!

This needs doing before someone is killed. For children adults and animals!

Having lived on Childs Lane for over 60 years it has always been a concern about the increase in traffic and the speed at which they can use the roads that were never designed for this amount of use. I have helped with many of the victims of accidents along this road and can say that without the fast response of residents several of these accidents could have led to fatalities. As more and more people use the road and with the farm vehicles in particular getting bigger and heavier surely it's about time highways did something to prevent the potential of more accidents and possible fatalities
