The members of Sloan have accomplished more in the first half of their career than most artists could hope for, and yet they surpassed this and have become not only one of Canada's greatest touring bands, but have demonstrated an unparalleled level of songwriting craftsmanship and musicianship. They consistently produce chart-worthy and sophisticated works of art simultaneously. This is what can make this group of artists so difficult to explain to the layperson, yet what makes them so respected by fellow musicians. Their longevity, breadth of work, and endearing qualities make Sloan a Canadian gem, and deserving of this recognition.

Sloan is one of the most prolific Canadian bands of all time. They are still at the top of their game 30 years in. All original members they are an incredible live act!!

30 years strong and never a decline in output or quality. Truly deserved for several years now!

Sloan has been a hardworking working band for 30 years, touring across Canada and the world and putting out 12 (thus far) albums of consistently high quality, not to mention the various smaller releases and side projects of each member. Aside from the music, their steadfast commitment to strict 1/4 shares for each member, even when a member’s personal life precluded them from contributing at the same level they may have in the past, is a great example of equity, fair play, and generosity that is to be admired and emulated. Their decades-long work helping to launch and promote other bands in their community, whether through the murderecords label or social media, and their dedication to crafting and maintaining a visual brand through album and merchandise artwork is also to be commended. Sloan richly deserves to be in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and I hope to see them inducted soon.
