The school administration has officially confirmed that all students may attend the prom without a required date. Thank you for your commitment to this change. We look forward to a more inclusive evening for everyone.
This petition is for the Cardinal O'Hara High School Class of 2016 to be allowed to go date-less to his/her senior prom on May 6, 2016 at the Drexelbrook.
The momentum behind this effort continues to grow in a way that confirms the necessity of our request. It is encouraging to see such widespread agreement on the importance of individual choice for our upcoming prom.

It would have been one thing to just exclude singles- which is still completely ridiculous!!!- but the fact that it has to be a heterosexual date is completely absurd.

All students should be included in prom. It's that last memory and experience we have with our graduating class. To not include anyone simply because they do not have a date is disrespectful. Let all students go to prom and feel beautiful and accepted for this one night we get.

For senior prom I went with someone random because I could not find a date. I think I would have enjoyed the event a lot more if I wasn't so stressed about having to find a date last minute.

When I was in school I saw way too many kids unable to attend dances over this rule and for a Catholic school, it seems unchristian to tell kids who can't find a date that they have to be left out of something as important as prom.

All of the students at Cardinal O'Hara High School are just as good by themselves as they would be with a date. A date should be an addition, not a requirement. Let the students celebrate the end of their year the way they see best fit. It's their senior year, not yours.

It is a class dance, so everyone in the class should be allowed to attend. The "date rule" for prom is outdated!

Disgraceful, especially in this day and age.

Absolutely appalled that there even is a need for a petition for this kind of thing. One does not need a date to prom- nor does it need to be of the opposite sex. Love is found in between all different people of different sexes- and not to mention, in yourself as well. Go to prom with someone who you love- you're boyfriend, girlfriend, partner, best friend, or by yourself.
