Keep our Silverstream trails accessible

Restricted access to trails should be resisted with all powers possible. Having an open and accessible trail network is vital for both locals and visitors

These trails are crucial for encouraging locals and visitors to the region to explore the wider region and maintain healthy lifestyles

It is important to keep access, the health and wellbeing of this area can not be under estimated. Concideration to users,along with management is key.

Areas like this spark a love of adventure and the outdoors. Our health statistics show we need to encourage movement and activity, not make it harder.

This doesn't even make sense. Look at the views from the trails, isn't that what living in NZ is all about, enjoyment of the land. Rather than block runners, why doesn't the council get behind running and help set up more events that could be internationally attractive, promoting tourism and giving Dunedin a place amongst the great adventure running destinations - it could be done!

I fail to see why recreational activities in the Silverpeaks, which are highly valued by some Dunedinites, would need to be restricted to protect the Silverstream watershed. What evidence is there that these activities threaten the water supply?

Terrible idea, keep it as it was

This track network is a vital recreational resource that really should not be closed without a very strong reason. I use it frequently for walking and bird watching (not tramping, hunting, trapping or fishing).

The dcc is retarded

DCC has provided no rationale for its proposed action

This is crazy, these are lovely walks/runs. What probem are they trying to solve?

People need to experience the outdoors to have appreciation, to then help make the positive difference that this world needs! These highly accessible trails are key to this!

The more people can enjoy our backyard, the better they will look after it!

These trails belong to the people of Dunedin. No one has the right to restrict citizens to use them for day trips and exercise.

These areas are part of what makes living in Dunedin so special, it is important that people do not lose access

Dcc needs to recognise there is no need to restrict these areas! This area is one of Dunedin’s biggest recreation areas which not only plays a significant part in public mental health and wellbeing, also is a draw card for international and domestic tourism to our city.

Special area for Dunedin, should be kept fully accessible to the public.

I am a casual trail runner who runs in these areas regularly, and love it up there.

Please don't restrict access to the Silverstream trails! They are a valuable community asset for people of all ages.
