Please keep these trails as is and no permits needed for every body to enjoy without having to get a permit. Wasted money leaching from the council and govt departments.

This doesn't make any sense. Freshwater ecology students at Otago Uni studied stream crossings in native bush areas around Dunedin over several years. They found that activities such as mountain biking, running or hiking had no negative effects on stream biodiversity downstream of these crossings.
So why should these activities no longer be permitted, or restricted?

The council has no grounds to deny residents access to recreational areas. This is yet another attempt by local government to display power and control in a manner not fit for a free western society

One of the great things about Dunedin is the fact that these tracks are so close and accessible, in an era when health and wellbeing is so important to us all to remove this access is completely shameful.

These tracks are critical to the well being, both physical and mental, of many people in Dunedin and are part of the culture of this city and have been for many years. If the concern is about pollution, perhaps the DCC should consider getting rid of the considerable number of 4 legged pests in the area not known to stick to tracks!

This is a beautiful area and the best Tramping’s close to Dunedin, it should remain open for everyone to enjoy without fighting red tape to go there!
