I am a regular user of the tracks in the Silver Peaks region including from Whare flat and the back of Swampy peak. This is one of the best tail running areas in the country. Please don't change it's access.

These tracks in the Silverstream area are a weekend lifeline to walkers, trappers and trail runners. It is essential that accessibility is maintained without the acquisition of permits, which undermines the true nature of New Zealand erst rights to the great outdoors.

This is a gem for Dunedin. We need to be encouraging more people in to the outdoors for health and wellbeing. Not putting extra barriers in the way

This proposal is crazy. It’s a massive recreation area.

Scope of the proposal needs revisiting. Consequences widely out of proportion.

Just crazy to need a permit in these areas!

Absolutely ridiculous if we lose access to these tracks. So many Dunedin trail runners and walkers/hikers use these tracks and have done so for years. So many people would be losing out. Please let common sense prevail here.

Use this area all the time.

More pointless bureaucracy. Focus on what matters council people.

we should be encoraging people to get out and be active, not restricting.

This is ridiculous if we lose access to such a beautiful part of our outdoor environment!

Ridiculous. This is well used public space. Restrictions will cause even more tracks to be bulldozed like the current waitati debarcle. This area is well used by schools too. Terrible invasion of public right to access.

These amazing trails are a major part of why many people choose to visit, and live in, Dunedin. At a minimum, before imposing a restrictive bylaw that cuts public access to these areas, it would be helpful to carefully assess the impacts on recreation, trail-running, events, tourism, visitor spending, etc.

I support this petition, so many people can continue to access this beautiful area with financial barriers
