We tramp on most of those tracks each year. There is no reason for the proposal to cut off access by the hundreds / thousands of other people who do so as well.

This is ridiculous. The DCC need a lesson in consultation.
Also I've peed numerous times around Ross Creek and dare I say it even been caught short a couple of times and had to poo in the bush there. Perhaps they should close Ross Creek water catchment area too?

We should be encouraging active recreation within our community, particularly no-cost options to ensure that there are accessible opportunities for all.
In the absence of any information and evidence as to why this proposal is on the table, it is hard to understand the motivation of the Council to bring this into our bylaws.
In a time where the Council are paying $15k for a trial recreation area in the Town Belt, there is already a huge network of tracks in the Silverstream area available for all to enjoy, for free, at no cost to the Council.
You must reconsider this for the health and wellbeing of the wider Otago Community.

I use these tracks frequently and do not want to see them lost to recreational hikers, walkers, runners and dog walking groups.

I think it’s important to continue to allow such events which bring in much tourism and business to Dunedin city and allow for a unique experience of it’s natural environment.

No to having to have a permit just to go for a walk or run in nature. Silverpeaks walks are essential to a lot of people's well-being physically and mentally.

Accessible tracks and trails are the heart of Wild Dunedin. If the trails are deleterious to the watercourses, then help maintain the trails to a standard so that we humans can have less impact.
