Keep our Silverstream trails accessible

hmmm really nobody asked for this

I’m genuinely outraged that the Dunedin City Council would even consider closing off parts of the Silver Peaks. It’s one of our most iconic outdoor spaces — a place people rely on for recreation, connection, and wellbeing. Decisions like this show a real disconnect from the community and from what makes this region special.

I’m always in this beautiful part of Otago - running, walking, hiking. It is the main reason I continue to live in Dunedin

Denial of public to public land for no reasonable answer is ridiculous

These tracks offer extremely valuable opportunities for activities in the outdoors. Please keep them accessible!

We need to keep open access to encourage use of Dunedin’s amazing environment.

Where’s the science backing the restrictions? Considering what is at stake and the scale of people affected by this, one would think a thorough, evidence-based assessment was done to justify these restrictions. The current proposal seems arbitrary and rightly should be opposed!

This is utterly outrageous and would remove access to some of the most special and delightful walking/running spots in Dunedin. I strongly disagree with this proposal.

Running n tramping should be allowed

If this goes ahead will be a shame for Dunedin as it is a beautiful race to do and there’s some beautiful trails I love doing this race I hope I can continue. Or save it Thanks Jason Anderson

This is what happens when rules are invented by people with no appreciation of the asset or area they are making rules about. Please, DCC, make sure these staff get out and experience the area first.

Keep the trails open!

Open access to these trails is so important for the local community.

I like going on walking excursions on a spur of the moment. Not having to apply for permits to get permission.

Essential to keep access for low impact walking or running.

I often go running or hiking on these trails, they are an asset to Dunedin. No reason given why there needs to be restrictions put in place

Don’t ban our freedom

Don't deny access to a great area for beginner tramping, a great place to learn.

They are an attraction for out of towners to come to Dunedin

These tracks are such a critical part of what makes Dunedin such a livable city. Removing access to the tracks would restrict the recreational value of Dunedin.
