This is such a dumb idea. Why would we restrict access to the areas that make Dunedin a unique and great place to live without any apparent justification.

One of Dunedins best features is easy access to tracks like these. Day walkers do no harm and often actually improve the area by collecting litter if they see any (although as a regular user I hardly ever see any litter). Think of the type of country we want NZ to be. One where people do not have to pay to access the beautiful backyard so close to our homes! Families don’t need this right now. But they DO need access to nature.

We have been getting great pleasure, fresh air and exercise from these tracks for generations. Our children loved them and we hope our grandchildren will be able to enjoy them too. Surely responsible humans using trackd do less harm than all the pigs, goast, possums and deer pooing and peeing all over the place.

Free access without council permit! It s our back country . We have done amazing hikes and overnight stays at jubilee hut! Day walks getting a council permit would that spontane trip because weather is good enough!!!

I love these trails! There’s something so special about Dunedin having these amazing trails right outside our doors. They bring together people from all walks of life, and that’s really special. It would be so sad to lose all of that!
