My husband works part time and has to do the journey mentioned at lunchtime - going through to Arnside and then going back to Silverdale. Seems daft not to have a service around the middle of the day.

Travelling back from Lancaster middle of the day means either a long wait or going via Arnside - I've seen people struggling over the bridge at Arnside, wait without any facilities and just to make the trip back to Silverdale. Typically as many people make this crazy journey as actually leave the station at Arnside. This looks like the timetablers are deliberately discouraging travel to Silverdale. Also agree with comments that some conductors cannot be bothered to check tickets or sell them. Northern rail's ticket machines seem to break down with ridiculous regularity. All of this distorts the figures for use of Silverdale station.

My experience is that is not always possible to buy a ticket - a lot of people get on at Silverdale and off at Carnforth or Lancaster without buying tickets- tempting for people but bad for the service

Many of the trains I travel on to Silverdale are dangerously over-crowded with the aisle filled with standing passengers. This has to be a Health & Safety issue.

I also agree with the previous comments on the last 2 journey s to lancaster I have not paid as the conductor has not reached us or not even come down the train as it was the last one back from lancaster and most people have been drinking. Therefore these journeys go unrecorded.s

Not for the first time I recently caught a crowded, single-carriage train to Lancaster where the ticket collector decided to stay in his den. Result - I and the others who caught it with me - didn't get on at Silverdale, as far as the system is concerned. Can't we have an "authority to travel" machine, with a nominal 20p fare, so these journeys aren't invisible? Otherwise it relies on passengers to pay at the far end, which requires honesty and sometimes time to spend queuing at a busy destination.

Finding myself on a train that doesn't stop at Silverdale, I've had to go on to Arnside and catch one back, only to be pestered by the guard to buy an extra ticket.

The concept of a train becoming an "Express Train " because it fails to stop at a couple of stations is a nonsense. Rural trains need to stop at all stations. Running to the published time is the important thing..being a few minutes faster is neither here nor there.

Bring back the direct trains to and from Manchester. All trains should stop at Silverdale. It is very frustrating to find the ideal train to the airport at Manchester, or home from shopping in Lancaster, only to find it doesn't stop at Silverdale.

Would love to take the train to work in Grange but the train does not stop at Silverdale Station at a time which makes commuting possible. Another car on the road.

Maintaining a good rail service, particularly direct trains to Manchester Airport, is essential for residents and visitors. Later connections that allow those traveling from London via Lancaster/Preston are also vital.

Journeys between Silverdale and Manchester can become a nightmare where a connection is now involved with the revised timetable. Twice in the last month I've travelled on the 17:15 from Man Picc which has failed to make the connection at Lancaster and meant an hour delay to Silverdale. The 17:46 is direct but now stops at more stations and is often slow and delayed. There are fewer direct trains and trains stopping at Silverdale making travel inconvenient and the necessity to drive. As for taking the risk of the train to meet a flight at Manchester Airport or relying on the train from the airport ….

Silverdale is very dependent on its train services, not just for our residents but also for visitors who want to explore our AONB. Northern Rail trains are grotty!

Cannot justify lack of use of train services. When travelling to Manchester, it is very common to have to stand between Silverdale and Preston before getting a seat.

Ours is a thriving community with many folk commuting to work, children travelling to school and those with families in the south, or who wish to visit the south for fun, all wishing to travel by train. We need these train services.

The Secondary School children are always packed like sardines in the corridors to & from Lancaster to Silverdale. In 5 years of travelling, my son never got a seat!
