Signals at Highland & Fellsway

This intersection is incredibly dangerous. It doesn't matter the time of day, morning, afternoon, evening, I have seen several accidents at this intersection. A new set of traffic lights would make a great impact on drivers, so long as it is done correctly.

Thank you to everyone involved for getting to this point! I only hope the BEST solution will take place vs. the "lowest bidder" option. This is truly a scary intersection due to speeding and today's reckless, lawless driving.

It will be much safer to have a light (signal) at the intersection than a rotary. Plus how does the rotary handle the incoming traffic from Glenwood ???

Please do not choose the cheapest option when it come to the Fellway and Highland intersection. Please select the design with the safest and still be able to 2 lanes of traffic on the Fellway.

This is a very dangerous intersection! The other day, someone was yielding properly to oncoming traffic, and the driver behind them was beeping their horn furiously. Some people still don't know the meaning of the word yield.

Have lived in the neighborhood for 17 years and this intersection has been a hazard to drivers and pedestrians the entire time. Accidents occur on a regular basis and it is always stressful to approach this badly designed area. It requires a common sense solution be implemented as soon as practicable.

The current situation is unsafe with speeding traffic, drivers who don't know how or don't care how they drive through a rotary and can't read Yield signs/lettering on the pavement. I've been driving through this intersection on a daily basis for over 14 years and get sweaty palms every time!

That intersection is a nightmare, an accident waiting to happen.

i agree with anything that makes things better for pedestrians and cyclists. but then we also need to add more decent public transportation options to minimize traffic.

Fellsway residents have long deserved safer cross walks with cross walk lights. The speed of the traffic is so great that a cross walk with out cross walk lights makes it nearly impossible to safely cross the street on a regular cross walk. I crossed on a cross walk and there was an accident because of this. On another cross walk I was pushing the stroller across the cross walk and three cars almost crashed into each other because one car stopped for me. Too many people use fellsway as a detour of 93 and as a "short cut". Please evaluate the number of accidents and determine how to make it safer. Thank you, Ava Swoboda

I support this. I drive, walk, and run through the Highland Ave/Fellsway E. intersection regularly, and it does not feel safe. Last week, I witnessed a vehicle exit rotary onto Fellsway on the WRONG SIDE OF THE MEDIAN (heading toward Rt. 60).

Would support this. It is very dangerous for people who drive through this area (my parents, brother, husband, aunts, uncles, cousins -- who live in Malden) and for me who doesn't drive but walk past it. I've walked past it with a stroller and my toddler in said stroller and it was not a pleasant or thrilling experience. It felt like we tempt fate by crossing there and that is not amusing at all.

Would also love to see long-term planning to make the Fellsway more neighbourhood friendly and safe in a Complete Streets format. I know the study is underway, cities of Malden /Medford need to keep petitioning for it.

I support the addition of traffic signals at Highland and Fellsmere East in Malden, MA.

I agree action needs to be taken with a sense of utmost urgency as this is a clear public safety issue. Improvement is LONG overdue. At the DCR Traffic study meeting on 12/8/16, I personally asked about which of the alternative traffic flow configurations would be safest for pedestrians. The response was informative. Signals would make obvious/ enforce the rules of the road. It's a dangerous intersection for drivers and pedestrians.

This intersection is not a rotary but even with the new signage it seems ambiguous. It needs lights.

This rotary, with its poor signage and poor sight lines, is dangerous for drivers and pedestrians. Adding a signal here would improve safety.

Every time I drive through this intersection I'm on increased alert and fearful. 23 need signals or for it to be a traditional rotary.
