Houston has to do something about animal welfare and stray dog issue - no kill shelters, free spay/neuter, fight cruelty cases, and inact education programs

To all elected officials, and to all officials who hope to be elected.. it is time for you to step up and help solve the problem with animal overpopulation in Houston. If you can't solve problems we can't vote for you.

The animal abuse/neglect numbers along with the exploding number of strays in Houston is staggering! It's a problem that needs to be seriously addressed!

I would love to support a petition on behalf of Houston animals, but I do not see a request here. What exactly and specifically is being requested of the candidates for mayor and city council? Houston needs to be a no kill city. To reach this goal, we need the city to be proactive with educating citizens about proper animal care.mwe need a mayor who cares.

I am a volunteer with a local rescue group and know personally the reality and crisis homeless pets face …we must care and dare to change!

Our shelters and rescues are over capacity, yet we continue to breed, sell and keep our animals intact. This has led to overpopulation, abuse, neglect, starvation and other forms of animal cruelty. The animal overpopulation crisis in Houston must be prioritized by our elected officials. It's embarrassing, it's heartbreaking and it can't be ignored any longer.

There should be better enforcement and greater penalties for those breaking the pet protection regulations.
