I have currently got 5 rescues all from the streets of Houston. The most recent having suffered horribly before we brought him home, for fear he was going to die out there. The problem is overwhelming and everyone involved in rescue has taken in so many, that they cannot take in more. We need help!

Thank you for bring awareness to Houston's "hidden secret!" It's shameful that the 4th largest American city can't take care of its animals. Resources are needed to educate residents, young people and businesses. It's everyone's issue and we can't allow God's creations to continue suffering.

I don't know how anyone cannot be heartbroken about animal cruelty. As a leading cities in the US, Houston should and can use our resources to set an example for the nation in

Yes we all need to do our apart to bring the animal population down. Education is the key.....and on top of the list to spay and neuter our pets. We do need a mayor who will address this issue and take this seriously.

Our society should care for these animals in the same manner as we care for our homeless and neglected children.

Dogs are my pet of choice and they are very important in my life. I have worked with rescues to save many many dogs by fostering and finding them homes. I also have a wonderful dog family of my own. I wish we would all work together to end the homeless condition for pets. These lives count, they feel joy, sadness, pain and fear. They give their all to a good and loving person.

Come on Houston! We are better than this! I've lived all over the country and have yet to see animals in such dire straits as they are in Houston.

If we don't some up with solutions, who will? This is our city and our problem. The rescuers cannot battle this alone. Please create mandatory spay/neuter laws. Please create no kill safe shelters for the animals others have dumped. Please put animal abusers and tortures in jail, and if no space, make them pay heavy fines to use for animal facilities and do community hours to clean up our city.

Fine ALL breeders out of existence! Animal abusers need to go jail and stay in jail! Dog and Cat sanctuaries should replace all this so called 'shelters' that do not shelter. They are houses of slaughter and murder! Aggressively shut down dog fighting rings and jail the leaders and also those that participate. They're all guilty of CRUELTY!!!

Breeders and irresponsible owners should be fined. The shelters are overcrowded and too many dogs are being put down
