Homeless animals wandering the streets is not only a animal rights issue but also a human rights issue. Lower income areas see the highest number of homeless animals and this is not good or fair for the humans or animals who live here. Everyone, animal and human, should have a safe place to live and call home.

We cannot go through several terms with another mayor who will not acknowledge there is a serious problem in this city and come up with a viable no-kill plan to deal with it.

Our pets are our family. The homeless pet population of Houston must be addressed. They just need to find there furever homes. And if you can't fund and assist that then you'll need to find another job.

rescue organizations, animal advocates and veterinarians are the ones usually footing the bills for these animals and it's not right. It's also not healthy for our environment. Then there's the social impact of animals being euthanized for the crime of simply being homeless. It's hard to be proud of a city that is one of the WORST in the nation in regards to animal cruelty law enforcement and abandonment. This is not that hard to solve.

Houston is one of the worst cities in the nation in regards to animal abuse, abandonment and cruelty. We must be the animals voice and get changes made in our City. I am ashamed of Houston for being a wealthy city that pays no attention to the animal overpopulation. The State must put in place a mandatory spay and neuter law in order to stop this horrific situation. Overcrowded shelters, overwhelmed animal advocates, volunteers, and rescue groups cannot make these changes necessary without help from law enforcement, an active animal cruelty division and state legislation.
