I just moved here from Germany and it is very disheartening and gravely concerning to see that there are known abandonment sites in this city. Something must be done to protect those without a voice and punish those who choose to abuse.

It would be so great for our beloved furry friends to have somebody that can speak up for them for all the cruelty and negligence in our city

I used to live in Houston 6 years ago and it was very sad to see, on an almost daily basis, the number of strays during my commute.

Houston needs better animal welfare and programs. We are disgraceful compared to much smaller cities...even right here in TX

Everyday I see animals on the streets no food, care, or safety and the biggest no love! Also everyday animals are killed in shelters and they are adoptable. They may be frightened and need some time and attention. It is wrong to continue this killing when other cities are no kill. Let's show the other states and major cities how awesome Houston is by being a no kill city and hopefully one day a no kill state.

If we want to become a first-class city, we HAVE to address this problem. I see homeless animals wandering the streets, and oftentimes deceased in the middle of our streets, almost every day. It's disheartening to know that there is still no comprehensive plan to tackle our animal overpopulation.

Houston needs to get serious about the stray animal population. The socialite fundraisers for BARC are nice, but the rich have no idea what goes on in the poor neighborhoods. A large segment of the general public remains ignorant of the necessity of spaying/neutering pets and is basically at the mercy of unwanted homeless animals that continue to multiply on the streets outside their homes. Perhaps BARC resources could be used for an aggressive spay/neuter program rather than no kill shelters?

All animals have a right to live. Stop the killing of animals NOW!!!!!!!
