I am in agreement that property tax be waived so that these funds can be instead used to restore this heritage building

The rejuvenation of this hotel is putting Shaunavon on the map. He is making no revenue from this business. Do the right thing.

One of the reasons we plan to visit Shaunavon is to see the old hotel. Many others feel the same. Please take time to consider the value of this asset to your Town and reduce the property tax. Be grateful for the many improvements taking place in the hotel.

Considering the FREE exposure that the Grand Hotel Shaunavon has provided for the town, surely the council could consider tax incentives to preserve a heritage building and promote a future business. The Facebook Page has followers from far and wide and visitors from out of town make a special effort to attend the annual open house.

While I don’t live in the area, I think it is important to preserve our history. If the current owner was totally renovating the building and destroying all the original craftsmanship, then I might not think a tax break was required. However, the current owner is trying hard to revive the history rather than erase it, and make it an attraction that people from far distances might come to see. I live in the eastern side of the province, but fully intend to visit the Hotel as work progresses. Kent is doing an amazing job of restoring. Not many people these days, would have the desire or talent to take on the job.

What's the problem with having the tax-free incentive? He's trying to help your muni not hinder it.

What this individual is working so hard to do, is of great value to Shaunavin in that it will bring 100’s of people every year to your town. These people will spend money at local businesses.
