Show Support for the Grand Hotel Restoration by way of Tax Relief

Please help Mr Kent to restore the heritage hotel. The council and the mayor of Shaunavon should be supportive of what he is doing right now by preserving the hotel. Just go Kent lots are happy with what you’re doing. God bless you always we are here for you..!!

Come on shaunavon! I guess no business ppl on that council! I guess maybe they wanted to spend a bunch on money to tear down when it got more decapitated! No common sense anymore on alot of these boards, they have there own agenda whatever it may be! I won't be shopping in shaunavon anymore!

The restoration of The Grand Hotel is getting attention from far and wide and so many of us support the work and will support the town when the hotel opens. It will be a unique draw for the community and the area as well. It will make your once thriving community a destination. The Town Council should back up the project and give the Hotel a tax break. Come on, get behind this unique project and help it along.

I live in Richmound SK where a friend and I took a flier on an abandoned $8000 home that would otherwise just sit and rot. It needed a new roof which was completed this weekend and we will now tackle the foundation. I’m not getting a tax break either but hopefully it will be sold again in a few months and once again contribute to the community tax base. There are a few other homes we might consider here as well.

I hope Shaunavon does the right thing and creates a tax incentive program for restoration work on heritage designated buildings.

Please help save the hotel.

The Grand Hotel will be a gem in the crown of Shaunavon, my hometown.

I am very much in favor of this petition for tax relief. I mean, why not? Anything that increases the value of any small town in Canada should be given as much help as possible!

The tourist revenue will offset any tax breaks ten fold . Show some respect for a fellow community member for goodness sakes .

It's very small town thinking that Kent is not supported in this incredible endeavor which will add economic benefit to the whole town.

Support this excellent initiative by giving them a tax break so they can keep restoring this gem of a building.

If you want people saying old buildings and history try giving them incentives with tax breaks. Everyone wins, eventually!

I was back in the area in the spring after many years gone, overall 49 years. So often our trips to Climax bypassed Shaunavon late at night. It’s sad to see so many vacant lots and missing businesses. We stayed at Kelly’s and Marcella and were very grateful for their hospitality and compassion at a very trying time for our families. We parked in front of the Grand Hotel when we went for supper. I looked at the building from the street. I’ve been following the renovations with great interest as my husband has worked and retired from large commercial construction, working and renting were a real part of his life! Repairs to any building start at the time of initial construction and continue forever. It’s impressive to watch the progress on this project. Our little corner of Saskatchewan is rich in history. We would love to spend more time promoting the area but it boils down to “ where to stay, where to eat, where to gas up”. Let’s think of those who have no parental home to return to. It’s pretty high emotion when you realize you are homeless in the town you grew up in. Taking on a project that supports hospitality is a huge investment in money and time. The future employment and tourism opportunities should not be overlooked. May you be Blessed with encouragement and compassion while you see this project come to completion.
