Show Support for the Grand Hotel Restoration by way of Tax Relief

I don't know what on earth the Town of Shaunavon is thinking - do they want an income generating tax payer or not???

i feel this hotel would be an asset to the town in bringing tourism. i hope you will help by giving this good man a bit of tax relief!

Efforts to restore historically significant buildings shd be encouraged by tax incentives

As someone who spent many years involved in community economic development, it is important to encourage projects such as the hotel restoration. I have watched a number of communities pull themselves up by the bootstraps by provide support to projects such as this. Grants and tax confessions are just a couple of the ways a local council can show support. By encouraging local fund raising activities is another. Has anyone does an economic spin off study to consider why support should be shown? Are there not local business people who can see the potential.

I’m really at a loss for words on this! You are fixing up a heritage building that would have eventually become an eyesore in this town. Come on Shaunavon, wake up.!

I agree that councils need to recognize this. It benefits all for many yrs ahead in seeing what once was!!

You would think the town would be happy someone is trying to do something to bring people in, rather than having them go elsewhere!

Commercials Heritage-designated buildings in Shaunavon should receive a tax credit for restoration work performed on an annual basis.

I think this will be an enormous addition to the town when finished

This project is a huge work of love and the desire to restore & protect these beautiful heritage buildings. Having some sort of tax break or restoration grant would help immensely. Please consider how much this project, and others like it, bring to the community. Tourism, community pride, preserving history, etc.

Kent is trying his hardest to renovate the historic hotel!

Restoration of commercial heritage buildings, not currently useable, deserve a property tax break, at least until again reuseable. The town receiving some tax is better than the headache of demolition.

It seems like a no brainer to give a tax break during renovations or for a set number of years. There is tax revenue for the town down the road. If this building wasn’t restored there’d never be another cent of tax paid for this property.

Shame on your council for not giving you a tax cut. More and more old buildings are disappearing and I’m happy somebody like yourself takes on this project. This is the reason small downs are disappearing. Keep up the good work on your hotel.
