I and family members have visited Shaunovan Sk with the whole intention of seeing this amazing restoration. I think it would be beneficial for local governments to encourage heritage restorations of this kind.

When this is completed, it will certainly be a tourist draw. I grew up in SK and regularly go back, doing different routes. Many others do the same and an interesting accommodation such as this would put Shaunavon on the itinerary. Give them a tax break until they are generating revenue.

The benefits to the Town of Shaunavon are quite obvious if the renovations to this historic old hotel proceed smoothly. Work together to provide some sort of tax relief for the current owner. Seriously.

Historical properties across Canada need to be recognized for their significance, in this case the Shaunavon’s Grand Hotel. Canadian governing bodies in villages/towns/cities seems so willing to destroy historical landmarks. This man has willingly put his funds and hard work to restore such a beautiful landmark. Surely those who make such decisions can realize the value and allow tax relief.

It is in the best interest of any community who supports this type of investment and dedication to preserve historical buildings.

As a Canadian and history buff, I am hoping to visit Shaunavon especially to see this project! We will stay in the area and explore. But Kent needs to be able to have your support and mechanisms to assure adequate money to continue this project. It is in everyone's best interests!

Saskatchewan should be proud of our diverse heritage. Any community that has someone as willing as Kent to pour money and effort into restoration of a recognized historical site should be applauded and helped by local government in any way they can. By waiving taxes or even lowering taxes the town could show its interest in preserving the heritage and ongoing value of their town.

If you want to keep heritage buildings, you need to make it more accommodating for those.

Sad the the local government is so short sighted to understand that they would also benefit from your endeavors. Without their support and because until you, "where is Shaunavon, SK?" has become the question. Good luck continuing with the restoration. Fantastic job so far. More historic buildings should be restored rather than torn down and replaced by the crappy new.....Cheers!
