This is in the best interest of your community to give a tax break to the Shauavon hotel restoration. I have followed the progress of this project for some time. It's exciting to see the progress and the future of a new business in any small town in Saskatchewan. Many followers on FB, me included plan to visit your fair community to stay and see this amazing hotel restoration. It will be sad to see this restoration come to a halt if there's no property tax break. Please support the petition at your next council meeting.

As a community government, you need to recognize efforts to restore and maintain historical properties in your town!!

Few people see the worth of old buildings. They don't think about the people that used to inhabit those halls. That lived their lives there. That loved and cried and laughed there. Even fewer have the will and resolve to begin this kind of restoration. They should be supported in their efforts in every way possible. In a digital world, if we forget where we come from, we are more likely to lose our way in the future.

We need to preserve our past to show future generations the beauty of historical properties.

Many of our heritage properties are in need of rejuvenation and a tax break for those stepping up to do so, wouldn’t hurt at all!

I am a former Saskatchewan resident with ties to the area and I WILL visit this hotel and spend money in Shaunavon when the hotel is finished. Also I agree with historic building restoration in principle.

I have visited Shaunavon and found it to be a lovely friendly little town. However I do feel that more could and should be done to present visitors with reasons to spend more time there. I think that long term, the restoration of historical building would aid that and should be better supported by whatever means you have available. Tax incentives/breaks, are proven to be a cost effective method of helping business .

I feel this is a worthwhile project to give a tax break too. It restores a massive building in the centre of our town and has the potential to bring in some tourism dollars as well.

I think everyone who purchases a piece of history to preserve it should get Tax Relief.

I had relatives that lived in the area and we always supported local. So please give Kent a break on taxes so he can bring this building up to the glory that it once was and the town would benefit for increased tourism.

I stand firmly behind this cause and commend the work being done to save such a beautiful heritage building and turn a derelict property back into a functioning one!

This is an awesome some. Drove by the hotel on our June trip to Sask, our other favourite province. Town needs to wake up and help those who are working to make their communities better

C’mon Shaunavon Council, here’s a guy putting his heart and soul into a highly visible project on one of the Main arteries in town which will bring tourist dollars in. All the residents have paid your recreation tax for the past many years even though some have zero interest in sports. Give a guy a break who is preserving an important piece of the towns history!
