Show Support for the Grand Hotel Restoration by way of Tax Relief

Please grant tax exemptions to this project. Small communities should welcome and encourage anyone willing to care for a piece of history in the way that Kent has been. How shortsighted it would be to insist property tax be paid only to have the project halted and nothing be gained for the community.

I hope the town of Shaunovan will seriously consider reducing the tax burden on this property during the renovation stage as this establishment will be a definite boost to the local community in time. The town management should support this initiative in any way they can.

I can't understand why our municipalities turn a blind eye to such wonderful projects. Instead, they invest our tax dollars into many unneeded things.

Let the man do his work restoring this beautiful building. Pkease reconsider the taxes on this building for the time being. There will be many of years to collect taxes when its done and just think of how much it will benefit the community with added income to many of businesses/town once its completed.

I have no reason to go to Shaunavon, but once this Hotel is available to accept guests, I, along with many others will be entering and spending money in your town. Think about it!

I had never considered a road trip to Shaunavon SK until I started following the restoration project on FB. Now I can’t wait to go someday to see it in person and hopefully stay there! Mr. Karemaker has put your town on the map. Please support his work with a tax incentive.

It's important to keep the history alive. This could bring potential income and tourism to Shaunavon as well which would be great for the entire town.

This is a landmark and Kent has done so much to bring it back to life. However, keeps hitting road blocks. For someone to move to Saskatchewan and bring back life, restoring some history back to the community without any backing speaks volumes. I think tax relief should be granted.

Preserving and restoring heritage all over the map is so vital to education and to nostalgia. Please listen seriously to this request.

For months now, I have been watching Kent pour his heart, soul and $$$ into restoring the heritage Shaunavon Hotel to its former glory. It was heartbreaking to hear that no tax incentives are available to him for this project. Did you know how many are following his endeavors (tha ks to the power of social media) and are looking forward to visiting your town and the hotel when it opens? Anyone who goes to so much effort and expense to keep heritage alive, especially in a small town, should be rewarded/shown appreciation. Tax considerations would be a good start.

I was born and raised in Saskatchewan and strongly support the recognition of and support for the province’s historic properties. We cannot lose our heritage, it must be preserved for future generations.
