Anyone undertaking this community upgrade should be compensated

Any historical restoration helps Saskatchewan’s heritage, pride & tourism so taxes are a completely unnecessary expense.

This is economic boon to the community. See the long range inportance and help this talented restorer to help your area. I will definitely vaca there to stay in such a special hotel. And honour the former owners murdered! Name them as more than "Chinese" on the CTV feature.

Anything that improves the town should be offered relief and incentive

We need to save the past so in the future we leave a memory. This hotel is part of the town history.

We have a motel in Shaunavon booked for 2 nights & a restaurant reservation because we're attending the hotel's open house in July. We would not be going to Shaunavon otherwise. Ever.

He is doing great work and putting Shaunavon on the map. Once in commercial operation he would pay taxes and bring tourist money to the community. You should support him.

Such a unique project and a boost for your community- I know I am planning a road trip and hoping to spend a night!

I would think the town could do a bylaw to forgive taxes for a number of years. I would also think the town has not been collecting any taxes for a number of years so forgive taxes for now and be thankful the building is being restored as in the future it will do great for tourism in your town. If the building had to be demolished that does nothing for tourism and only costs to have hauled to a landfill. The town should be helping to promote this project in anyway. Remember he could have chosen some where else. Jean Margetts, councilor town of Watrous.

A tax incentive for period commercial structures is as important as those of residential or indeed industrial backgrounds. These buildings are the fabric of our heritage. Strip malls and box stores erase cultural heritage when they replace these structures. Tax incentives allow financial resources to do the real work of maintaining the legacy they represent.

This is a wonderful project of restoration as we sadly watch the destruction and decay of our Saskatchewan pioneering history in almost every location

Save our heritage buildings because our cities are turning into parking lots. Look to Toronto where buildings or facades of building are carefully preserved to keep the personality and history of the city retained.

It's an amazing project that any municipality should be proud to endorse and assist.

This project will bring big benefits to Shaunavon! I’d hope some discounts would be given for this huge work in progress!
