Are you in favor of armed officers at all Oconee County Schools to protect our students and staff members?

Please protect our children from the evil that is infecting our country!! The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

Not only should we have have officers stationed on campus at all times we should also have a percentage of trained school staff armed as well

As someone who went to OCHS (graduated in 2015), I still to this day know how to get into that school with little to no issues. Going into the front office, there are two separate ways I could go to access the rest of the school. No security, and no locks in the way. The addition to the double door system at the front has helped, along with them being locked during class, but literally ANYONE could walk in during class change and blend in with the students. Those secure double doors are unlocked for students to pass through from D or C hall during class change, typically for music classes or K hall. They need to have a different system put in place, because what is the point of spending taxpayers money on secured doors just to be useless? The bus doors are also randomly unlocked, and no one is there to watch who comes in and out. I never had to worry about my school being attacked while I went there, but I know for a fact just how easy it could be if you know enough about the school and their schedules. Please make a change!

I want my child to be safe. So many shootings in schools is heartbreaking.

Have been in favor of this since my time on grand jury in 2018 and not being satisfied with Branch’s and LeDuff’s reasons for not having them. And they are still making that same argument today despite the overwhelming need.

I am a former School Resource Officer. I have and always will believe that having an certified armed officer at all schools is a great idea. I have two children currently in Oconee County Schools.

This cannot happen soon enough. . .

We have the money in our County with the wealth of our residents. We should set up a private fund to pay for these officers. Protect our kids and show why we are the number 1 school district in the State.

i agree IF this will protect our students & faculty What precautions will be taken for playgrounds? and gyms? high school parking lots?
