I'm a professional railroad engineer for a class 1 railroad. I've had the privilege to operate a locomotive for 18 years. News reporters never get railroad stories right

As a retired former NYCTA Motorman and Metro-North Commuter Railroad Locomotive Engineer, and someone who was taught to do research properly in junior high and high school, I would dearly love to know who taught Ms. Baker how to do research, and also what kind of a "safety expert" was to whom she spoke. Clearly none of her reporting had any relationship to modern railroading, even the little bit you might be able to glean from reading this month's issues of newsstand or trade magazines dedicated to the industry.
Ms. Baker, by her poor research and inflammatory reporting, shows only how little she knows about the rail industry and passenger rail operations. By broadcasting her sensationalism masquerading as research, I question the integrity of the news operations at WCBS-TV. Does WCBS-TV normally encourage reporting based on pet half-baked theories on other subjects?
Both Ms. Baker and WCBS-TV owe the entire skilled craft of those of us who operate trains - be we titled Locomotive Engineer, Motorman, Train Operator, or any variant thereof - an on-screen apology, in prime time, for her fearmongering foolishness.

Her reporting sure does sound like slander to me.
I am a locomotive engineer. I went through years of training to earn the right to become a locomotive engineer. I'm sure that I can speak for all locomotive engineers across the US in saying that your report was a slap in the face, and was totally unnecessary. However, as a mature adult, I will not stoop to your level and will continue to hold my head up high, because I am proud of what I do, and I know that those on my train can trust me to do everything in my power to get them there safely.

She had no idea of the thing she was doing. The area is a speed area. Signaling is done in a computer system. It works they do their job. People who operates railraods know what their doing post speed changes

CBS and Meg Baker created an inaccurate report based on absurd sources- a CIVIL engineer, NOT a LOCOMOTIVE engineer, for one. Sadly, this report was clearly aired as a sensationalistic piece instead of an attempt at educating your viewers. Should you ever speak to a qualified Locomotive Engineer or Conductor, you may realize how very ridiculous the segment CBS aired actually is - and I use the word MAY with intent. CBS and Meg Baker certainly cannot be taken seriously. You should apologize to the professional railroaders and other viewers.
