Short Avenue Elementary Opposes Charter Co-Location

Save our small school

Keep ICEF out of Short Ave. School.

As a teacher and Short Ave. alumn, I feel deeply concerned about the push for the privatization of our community schools. Story dividing our communities and invest in our existing schools.

As a neighbor and friend of short avenue elementary, I urge you to respect the strengths and space of Short.

We have one at my daughters school and it's nothing but trouble...

Please leave our wonderful little school as is. We need our extra classrooms but we don't need the problems that bringing in a Charter school may cause. We are a close knit community of families, friends, and parents and our children are very happy and safe in our school as it is now. Please let us have this peace of mind in these caotic times. Thank you.

Short Ave elementary school is not equipped to accommodate another school. It has been the pride of our neighborhood for so long. I strongly oppose the intent of LAUSD to bring in another school.

I don't think a charter school with a non charter school is such a great Idea, plus if the rooms are being used why should you take from our children to pack more children there. I personally be affected since my kids do attend after school programs, since we can't pick them up right after school.

Absolutely absurd you would decimate a community school like this! The people in the community that pay the property taxes that maintain the school deserve better! The charter school can find its own location. LAUSD must stop selling out our kids for the $$$

No charter school added to short Elementary school. It is preventing our small school from growing.

I support our local public school and oppose the co-location of ICEF Vista Charter school at our Short Avenue Elementary campus!

I have 2 daughters attending Short Avenue Elementary. Having 2 completely different programs at the same school, will not be beneficial to our children's education. It will only cause tension between parents and teachers. No charter at Short Ave!

Short avenue has been a recognized & long term community school that would not benefit from co- location w another school. I attended short as a student & now my daughter attends the school. By having a collocation this would teach short avenue students about separation, differences as my understanding is that the co-location is it's own entity & does not follow the same rules, standards & protocols as LAUSD. short avenue has thrived in promoting unity, collaboration, being respectful, being honest & promoting positive values for our students. Having a colocation@ short avenue would be catastrophic for the short avenue students/ families.

I am opposed to the addition of charter school classrooms to the Short Avenue campus.

Lausd needs to stop whoring themselves out to anyone waving a dollar bill in their hand. They vetoed the expansion of Orville wright elementary school for the use of sharing the campus with another school in Westchester. Short elementary is more populated and located in a much more densely confined neighborhood. I believe there would be a need for a feasibility study. With the main entrance to school located on Maxella AV. A street with acces for only one car to pass at a time, would be a disaster. Nevermind the resident children and their parents, lausd will have a bigger problem fighting several combined lawsuits from the area residents that surround the school campus.

Right when I thought we had it good... This makes NO SENSE!!!! Our awesome elementary has worked so incredibly hard to have many opportunities available for our kids to grow and learn within our school, and now the district just wants to turn it into a payday at the expense of our children???? I really don't get it.... Give our kids a chance!!!! No co establishment!!!
